About Steven Chavin

STEVEN CHAVIN is a retired theoretical physicist who has spent a lifetime trying to find the Laws of Nature that determine how the world works, but was never able to answer this question:  Why does the Universe have these laws and not some other laws?  How the Universe works is physics.  Why we have a Universe in the first place is philosophy and religion.  Raised in Chicago and now living in Santa Barbara, he draws on personal memories, curiosity, and a deep interest in the nature of thought and belief.  When he’s not writing, he gives lively tours as a Santa Barbara County Courthouse docent. 

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is his first novel, blending philosophy, memory and imagination.
